“Take Me Out to the Ball Game….”
Holt Moffitt Field, former home of the Lexington Indians, Mets and Giants was built in 1938 and hosted minor league teams of the Tar Heel League or the South Atlantic (SALLY) League for 4 decades. During its years in the Tar Heel League, the field served as host for the farm club of the Philadelphia A’s. The field was last used professionally by the Atlanta Braves in 1967 for one year. Since 1968, the field has been used by amateur teams and collegiate ball teams.
Chief tenant of the Holt Moffitt Field today is the American Legion.
Holt Moffitt Field is located at 101 West 9th Avenue, just off South Main Street in Lexington.
