September 17-22, 2012:  Davidson County Agricultural Fair, 400 Greensboro Street Extension, Lexington.  The third week in September is the official beginning of fall in Davidson County.  Since the 1940s, residents have strolled through the Exhibition Hall at the County Fairgrounds to see the finest handcrafted items, baked goods, canned vegetables and flowers.  Youngsters are eager to ride the rides and check out animals in the barns.  Located on a 17-acre fairground, the fair also hosts the annual Miss Davidson County Pageant, the popular Diaper Derby, agricultural judging and exhibits, nightly fireworks, musical entertainment and special prize drawings.  This event is one of the few truly agricultural fairs left in the state.  For more information call the Cooperative Extension Office at 242-2080 or the Fairground Office at 243-2528 or visit www.DavidsonCountyAgFair.com.
