Food is one thing everyone enjoys – whether you are a child or just a kid at heart – Lexington has something to suit your taste!

Barbecue

The Lexington area is well known for many foods, although you may have heard of its “World Famous Barbecue.”  Perhaps some of our other famous foods may not be as familiar.

Pimento Cheese

Since 1940, Conrad & Hinkle Food Market has been serving the folks in Lexington with some of the best, most tasty pimento cheese around.  A good old-fashioned grocer located on the square in Lexington, they sell their pimento cheese by ½, 1 and 2 pound containers.  This is a good old southern taste of Lexington you certainly don’t want to miss!

Peppermint Candy

After you get your homemade pimento cheese, walk across N. Main Street to The Candy Factory for some good old-fashioned “Red Bird” peppermint candy made by Piedmont Candy Company right here in Lexington.  The Candy Factory opened in the front of Piedmont Candy Company in 1978 and moved to N. Main Street in 1979.  The peppermint candy sticks and puffs are a mainstay at The Candy Factory, but these days when you walk in the door, your nose will be instantly drawn to the wonderful aroma of homemade, fresh fudge.
